SOESD - Behavior Support Coach (TEMPORARY)
Join the Southern Oregon Education Service District (SOESD) student behavioral health and wellness team as a Behavior Support Coach. The role works with component school districts to help students develop essential social, emotional, and behavioral skills. Coaching focuses on self‑awareness, self‑management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision‑making. The coach promotes healthy school cultures and assists school staff in creating engagement, learning, and well‑being climates.

Position GoalThe coach collaborates with school staff to implement evidence‑based social‑emotional learning (SEL) and behavioral supports, integrates SEL into academics and classroom routines, and provides direct, targeted support for students with high behavioral needs in a strength‑based, trauma‑informed, culturally responsive manner.
Duties and Responsibilities- Provide targeted support for students with high behavioral needs under licensed staff direction.
- Implement and model evidence‑based SEL strategies to promote growth.
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and leaders to support inclusive, safe, culturally responsive environments.
- Coach staff on integrating SEL and behavior supports into daily routines and curriculum.
- Assist in developing individualized learning and behavior plans aligned with student goals.
- Encourage emotional intelligence, self‑regulation, and effective communication among staff and students.
- Respond to behavioral crises using trauma‑informed, restorative de‑escalation practices.
- Engage families in supporting student success by sharing SEL strategies and resources.
- Collect, review, and analyze behavior data to inform interventions and monitor progress.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with district, state, and federal policies.
- Participate in ongoing professional learning in SEL, trauma‑informed care, and restorative practices.
- Maintain required certifications and apply de‑escalation techniques per agency standards.
- Contribute to agency teams through collaborative problem‑solving and shared planning.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with all stakeholders.
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and planning sessions.
- Follow all SOESD policies and procedures.
- Perform physical requirements unaided or with reasonable accommodation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Valid Oregon driver’s license.
- High school diploma.
- English language proficiency.
- Preferred: degree in early childhood education, social work, counseling, or related field.
- Preferred: early childhood or K‑12 education experience.
- Preferred: mentoring and coaching experience.
- Preferred: bilingual.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SEL, trauma‑informed care, restorative practices, and culturally responsive strategies for diverse student needs.
- Strong communication, collaboration, self‑management skills, independence, crisis response, and professionalism.
- Proficiency with technology and digital tools; positive, flexible attitude; commitment to equity and teamwork.
Temporary – in person. Position ends 6/30/2026 (end of school year).
SalaryHourly: $23.90–$28.63 for 2025–2026 school year.
Immediate SupervisorProgram Administrator.
