Staff Accountant
Location: In-Office | Monday–Friday (Hours TBD)
Pay: $32–$35/hour DOE
Reports To: Controller & General Manager
We are an established construction-focused organization looking to add a reliable, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting and payroll functions. This role works closely with leadership and project teams and offers hands‑on exposure to construction accounting and job costing. This is a great opportunity for someone who has a solid accounting foundation and is eager to continue learning in a stable, team-oriented environment.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Accounts Payable & Vendor Support:
- Enter vendor bills related to jobs and operating expenses
- Help set up new vendors by collecting basic documentation (W‑9s, COIs)
- Assist with keeping job files organized digitally
- Support 1099 preparation at year‑end
- Payroll Support:
- Help process weekly payroll using Quick Books
- Review timecards for accuracy with guidance from leadership
- Assist with payroll reports and tax updates
- Support monthly workers’ comp reporting
- Help with W‑2 preparation at year‑end
- Job Costing & Reporting:
- Assist with reviewing job costs and materials
- Help ensure costs are applied to the correct job
- Run basic job and cost reports for leadership
- Work with project managers to resolve simple discrepancies
- Billing & Project Support:
- Assist with setting up jobs and estimates in Quick Books
- Help reconcile estimates with Excel Schedule of Values
- Support monthly customer billing and documentation
- Assist with lien waivers and customer follow‑up as needed
- General & Administrative Support:
- Help with permits, compliance paperwork, and public job documentation
- Learn prevailing wage reporting with training provided
- Cross‑train with administrative staff for coverage
- Take on additional accounting tasks as skills grow
- Experience with Quick Books (or similar accounting software)
- Any exposure to construction or job‑cost accounting
- Payroll or AP experience
- Excel familiarity beyond basic data entry
