Please note that Seasonal Park Workers are a type of Variable Hour Employee and shall work no more than 1,200 hours in a fiscal year. This is a continuous recruitment. The first batch of candidates will be reviewed on 2/13.

As a Seasonal Park Worker, you will have the opportunity to work at many of Metro’s regional parks, cemeteries, and nature parks.

We are hiring seasonal positions that will report to one of the following locations. Please note that these locations are not on bus routes or public transportation.

Locations and schedules

Location # 1. Blue Lake Regional Park: 20500 NE Marine Dr, Fairview, OR 97024

  • Available Schedules:
    • Thursday – Sunday
    • Closing Shift: 12:30PM-9:00PM

Location # 2. Historic Cemeteries and Nature Parks: 20500 NE Marine Dr, Fairview, OR 97024

  • Available Schedules:
    • Schedules are Wednesday-Saturday or Sunday-Wednesday depending on availability
    • Day shift: 6:00 am – 4:30 pm

Location # 3. Oxbow Regional Park: 3010 SE Oxbow Pkwy, Gresham, OR 97080

  • Available Schedules:
    • Thursday – Sunday
    • Closing Shift: 12:30PM-9:00PM
As a Seasonal Park Worker you will
  • Assist in providing a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors.
  • Respond to emergency situations in which loss of life of a patron is a possibility (i.e., drownings).
  • Provide general customer service, such as giving directions and answering questions; provide information and assistance at picnics, campsites, weddings, special events and cemeteries; explain park rules and regulations; and monitor restricted use areas.
  • Call Park Ranger or supervisor for enforcement, citation and first-aid/emergency response or other similar health and safety issues.
  • Ensure grounds are clean and orderly. Sweep litter, glass and leaves from roads, paths and other areas; empty and clean compost, recycling and trash containers; clear roads, paths and other areas of debris, ice or snow; and chip limbs and branches.
  • Clean and maintain restrooms. Re-stock paper towels, toilet paper and soap; sweep and mop floors; clean and disinfect sinks, mirrors, counters, hand dryers, toilets and urinals; and unclog toilets, sinks and floor drains.
  • Assist with simple, routine garden work, such as mowing, raking, edging and trimming lawns; water and weed lawns, shrubs and flowerbeds; cut brush; assist with planting, pruning and thinning; and lay and replenish bark.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties around storage yards and buildings. Clean equipment, tools and supplies and return to designated areas ensuring they are prepared for next use; load and unload trucks; wash and fill trucks with gasoline; and use pressure equipment to wash down areas.
  • Perform basic facility maintenance, including painting, graffiti removal, cleaning gutters and roofs, straightening and installing signs; and assist with digging and back filling trenches and holes for pipe repair and installation.
  • Drive trucks with trailers to transport equipment to various parks and cemeteries locations.
  • Assist Park Rangers in opening and closing facilities and buildings in adherence with security procedures.
  • Assist with set-up and tear down for events. Set-up includes setting up canopies, tables, chairs and other equipment; turning on equipment; and helping with supplies. Tear down includes taking down canopies, returning tables and chairs to storage, turning off and cleaning equipment and work areas; and preparing area for next use.
  • Assist with traffic control, including parking vehicles, placing barricades and flagging traffic.
  • Properly dispose of fluids, chemicals, equipment and packaging.
  • Report facility and equipment problems and health and safety issues to Park Rangers, Lead or management.
  • Collect fees at park entrance booths and campgrounds. Operate cash registers and credit card terminals; counts money.
