PAY AND BENEFITS

Annual Pay Range: $75,944.87 - $96,306.17

Hourly Pay Range: $36.51 - $46.30

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Parole & Probation Division seeks experienced, qualified, and motivated individuals for Parole & Probation Officer 2. The position requires day‑to‑day interaction with adults on supervision using basic corrections knowledge and interpersonal communication skills.

Parole & Probation Officers are required to carry firearms issued by the Division in the performance of their duties.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently or previously certified as a basic Parole and Probation Officer with at least one (1) year of experience within the last five (5) years.
  • High school diploma, GED, or Bachelor’s degree. Degree holders may upload a transcript; non‑degree holders must pass a reading/writing test.
  • Experience supervising difficult people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and adjustment problems in justice‑involved adults.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Understanding of basic concepts and principles of social and correctional care and group work.
  • Minimum age 21; U.S. citizenship or eligibility to become a citizen within 18 months of hire.
  • Clean criminal record; no convictions of a serious nature.
  • Willingness to be fingerprinted and have fingerprints filed with the state.
  • Meeting Department of Public Safety standards for visual and hearing acuity.
  • Certification as a Parole & Probation Officer with DPSST.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug test, background investigation, and physical/psychological evaluation.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Corrections, Criminal Justice, Social Services, or Psychology.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in parole and probation.
  • Background in social work or counseling.
  • Experience supervising difficult people and providing counseling and motivation for change.
  • CPR and First Aid certified within three (3) months of employment.
TYPICAL TASKS
  • Conduct interviews with adults on supervision to determine personal needs and develop appropriate programs.
  • Conduct pre‑sentence investigations, intake interviews, and supervise diversion and community service cases.
  • Investigate home conditions and other factors for court reports on adults on supervision.
  • Under immediate supervision: make arrests, conduct searches and seizures, transport prisoners, and coordinate with law enforcement.
  • Interact with collateral sources and agencies to assist with investigations and treatment plan implementation.
