Overview
The Industrial Maintenance Electrician is responsible for providing maintenance support to the Okonite Cable and Compound Manufacturing Plants. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who has a thorough understanding of electrical concepts. This understanding must translate into minimizing downtime required to repair plant equipment while recommending/implementing needed changes for the future state. This individual must be capable of using electrical instrumentation to repair machinery and install new equipment to specifications.
This position is a critical to the maintenance department to provide timely and safe repairs on equipment. This position is primarily 2nd or 3rd shift after training is completed on 1st shift. Candidates must be willing to work overtime as necessary.
- Knowledgeable of Preventive and Predictive Maintenance
- Input/Retrieve data/reports from our Computerized Maintenance Management System
- Support capital projects/expansions where needed
- 6S – with an emphasis on safe work
- May be called upon to fill in for supervision
- May be called upon to work weekends or shifts
- This job is primarily a 3rd shift position
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Test electrical systems (electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures) using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, megohers, or oscilloscopes to ensure proper state.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with code.
- Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of the breakdown and correct the problem.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment or fixtures.
- Advise management on whether continued operation of the equipment could be hazardous.
- Dependable with good verbal and written communication skills.
- 5+ years of industrial electrical experience (preferred).
- A two-year degree in Electrical/Instrumentation Technology (required).
- A passing grade on an Okonite general electrical aptitude test (required).
