Substation Technician – Electric Division

The purpose of this classification is to perform skilled trades work to maintain and repair electric generators, sub-stations and related equipment for the Electric Division of the Department of Public Utilities.

Salary Range $23.70- $37.92/ hour

• Provides complex technical repair service on electric generators, sub-stations and related equipment.
• Performs complex preventative and regularly scheduled maintenance and repairs on electrical equipment.
• Maintains inventory of parts and equipment.
• Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment, and monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.
• Performs general cleaning and maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment and tools in operable condition.
• Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated time frames and per established procedures.
• Operates a personal computer and other electronic devices.
• Utilizes maintenance, work order, or department-specific software to issue, receive and complete work orders as required.
• Operates or uses various equipment, power tools
