Registered Nurse Pre/Post Cardiac Cath Lab
Job Summary:
Performs the primary functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of all patients in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab (CCL) during his or her shift. Is responsible for meeting the established standards of Intensive Nursing Practice, managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment, and promoting teamwork with physicians and other departments.
Job Description:
Under general supervision, performs professional nursing, technical, and administrative duties in the cardiac catheterization lab. Performs scrub and hemodynamic monitoring duties with diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures and peripheral vascular procedures; uses clinical knowledge and professional judgment in accordance with protocols. Provides care and assessment before, during, and after procedures and instructions to patients. Maintains all pertinent procedure documentation.
Primarily works in a hospital or clinical setting. Risks include working near moving mechanical parts, potential electrical shock, exposure to infectious disease, and radiation.
Essential Functions- Assesses staffing needs and collaborates with the manager for assignments.
- Monitors and improves nursing care delivery in the CCL.
- Interprets patient data (EKG, labs, radiology, etc.) and identifies changes.
- Conducts comprehensive patient history and physical exams.
- Communicates assessment data to the health team and maintains confidentiality.
- Serves on hospital committees and helps revise policies.
- Develops and implements written care plans for patients.
- Provides health information and resources for lifestyle modifications.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
- Capacity to lift and move patients or equipment.
- Visual acuity and color perception.
- Auditory ability to communicate and perceive alarms.
- Stamina to handle long shifts and stressful situations.
- Mobility within clinical environments.
- Compliance with infection control protocols and PPE use.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed to practice in South Carolina; two years’ experience in ICU/CCU or Telemetry with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures; BLS and ACLS certification required.
