Plans, directs, and evaluates the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit or during an assigned shift. Coordinates the activities of the unit and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff. Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary. Identifies expected outcomes for patients' individualized treatment plan.
Job Responsibilities:
- Fosters a patient centered professional work environment through the implementation of the nursing process, staff development and collaborative team interactions for the enhancement of the quality of patient care.
- Partners with the department leaders to achieve goals to improve quality of care.
- Ensures proper standards are followed for nursing practice and provides interface between the support services and clinical services.
- Facilitates care delivery system development and operation, including but not limited to staffing and professional delivery of services.
- Leads daily operations of clinical employees, including staffing and throughput, while maintaining an efficient and professional work atmosphere.
Physical Requirements
:
Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, and walking. Ability to climb stairs, work indoors and outdoors, and work from elevated areas.
Mental Requirements
:
Must possess the ability to read and interpret business or safety manuals, clinical or technical procedures or regulations. Ability to write reports and effectively present information.
Minimum Qualifications
:
Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. Associate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of two years of work experience as a registered nurse in a designated area of practice required. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state required.
