LPN assists physicians with patient care, including interviewing patients, obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for exams, assisting with examinations and treatments, charting, clerical duties, and managing telephone prescriptions and refills. The LPN performs triage on patient calls to identify emergent and non‑emergent situations, and may administer injections and specific infusions under physician supervision.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Perform nursing procedures per clinic policy, including medication administration.
- Complete competency skill checklists.
- Prepare patients for clinic appointments.
- Provide direct hands‑on patient care under supervision of a provider or RN.
- Obtain vital signs, including pain scores, and review patient medication charts.
- Ensure timely patient flow and maintain accurate documentation.
- Check equipment daily and maintain proper functioning.
- Obtain blood samples as ordered.
- Prepare charts prior to patient visits, ensuring all scans, labs, physician notes, and recent hospital summaries are current.
- Answer and address incoming phone calls, returning voicemails within two hours.
- Maintain professional clinic environment, including stocking supplies and disinfecting chairs/exam rooms.
- Assist staff with appointment scheduling and coordinate referrals.
- Administer injections within LPN scope and intravenous medication per physician orders.
- Address blood spills following FMCNA policies.
- Operate emergency equipment per standard operating procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and orientation.
- Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
- Assist with projects as assigned by the supervisor and may escalation issues as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Work in a healthcare facility with moderate noise and controlled temperature; potential exposure to infectious materials.
- Desk and computer work, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching; fine finger dexterity required.
- Occasional pressure from multiple calls and scheduling.
- Travel between assigned facilities and regional meetings may be required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Practical Nursing (LPN, LVN) from an accredited school.
- Current state LPN license.
- Current BLS certification or recertification within 3 months of hire.
- 2–4 years of related experience; 1–3 years preferred in a clinical setting.
- Proficiency with basic office equipment (telephone, computer, fax, copy machine).
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to handle confidential situations, and maintain professionalism with staff, patients, and the public.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Organized, self‑starter, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Computer literacy with emphasis on Word, Excel, and billing systems.
