Our dynamic manufacturing team in Orangeburg, S.C. is seeking a motivated individual to join our team in the role of Production Technician
. The technician performs machine set-up for orders, safely operates the machine to meet production targets, manages waste and quality standards, and troubleshoots the machine when it is down or not performing to standard. The role involves keeping the plant and co-workers performing in a safe and efficient manner that exceeds customer expectations.
- Work, act, think, and converse with the aim of improving quality and eliminating waste in the process.
- Stop any operation that is not producing product to customer expectations or that violates approved quality and safety standards.
- Set up the machine to the specification outlined on the order copy.
- Set up the machine to standard setup time and procedure.
- Operate the machine to meet standard production targets and waste targets.
- Assist maintenance in machine repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Work efficiently and seamlessly with other divisions within the Indevco Group to drive improvements.
- Continuously improve the process as an individual and as a team member.
- Troubleshoot the machine when it is down or not performing to standard.
- Ensure day-to-day operation of the machine is consistent with Quality System policies and procedures.
- Create an environment of teamwork focused on producing quality products.
- Perform inspections per Quality Procedure.
- Clean machine and area according to schedule.
- Ensure Preventive Maintenance is performed according to schedule.
- Set the example of safe operation by following established safety guidelines and holding self and others accountable.
- Initiate and support improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as instructed by Supervisor, General Manager, and/or Production.
- Maintain open communication with employees and ensure improvement ideas are reviewed and addressed in a timely manner.
- Use shop tools, hand tools, equipment manuals, blueprints, and schematics for troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment failures.
- Implement 5S activities and follow all procedures.
- Adhere to Personnel Processing Practices in IPO’s Food Safety Plan as determined by the Food Safety Management System.
- Make “run / don’t run” decisions with input from General Manager, Supervisor, and Quality/Technical; communicate effectively with others.
- Ensure everyone has the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Knowledge
- Meets production targets (percent performance to production plan).
- Meets Quality targets (number of complaints).
- Meets Safety targets and performs audits on required timelines.
- Meets all Environmental compliance requirements (Air Permits, Waste, Storm Water, etc.).
- Other duties as instructed by Plant Manager, Supervisor and/or Production Manager.
- Basic understanding of all machine functions, printing, inks, mounting plates, extrusion, and reading a tape measure.
- Reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Work is medium difficulty. Shafts can be controlled by hoist equipment if available. Ink buckets lifting is required on occasion but typically not more than 40–50 lbs.
