Overview
Cancer Center Nurse Manager role at MUSC Health. Manages one or more functional areas of a department; manages two or more professional and support staff including subordinate supervisors. Ensures compliance and quality metrics for the center; may fill in as a registered nurse in infusion or radiation oncology when applicable. Typically has hire, fire, or promotion authority. Collaborates with leadership to support the budget process and key operational goals.
Responsibilities- Manage one or more functional areas of a department and 2+ professional and support staff including subordinate supervisors.
- Ensure compliance and quality metrics for the center; evaluate and improve department processes in line with organizational policies and applicable laws and regulations.
- Fill in as a registered nurse in infusion or radiation oncology when applicable.
- Exercise hire, fire, or promotion authority where applicable and appropriate.
- Lead initiatives, strategic priorities and programs that impact the organization.
- Work independently and with leadership to support the budget process and meet key operational goals.
- Plan, organize, facilitate, monitor, and evaluate activities of the department/functional area aligned with goals.
- Collaborate with leaders to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical/non-clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve quality outcomes and operational efficiencies across delivery settings.
- Oversee daily operations and provide supervision of Clinical Unit Leaders, licensed nurses, and unlicensed staff; may indirectly supervise others.
- Assist with staffing, duty assignments, and on-call responsibilities as assigned; participate in performance improvement and patient experience initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; current registered nurse license in the state of South Carolina.
- Three (3) years of experience in a clinical specialty; one year of supervisory/leadership experience; certification in a clinical specialty preferred.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
Regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases and to a variety of clinical situations. May work irregular hours and respond to emergencies or crisis situations.
Physical requirements:
ability to sit, walk, stand, use hands, reach, stoop, talk, hear, and smell; lift up to 50 lb (25%), up to 100 lb (50%), and more than 100 lb (25%). Visual requirements include near, far, color, and depth perception. Mental requirements include reading and interpreting manuals, writing reports, and performing mathematical calculations.
This position interacts with all age groups and provides direct/indirect patient care. Staff must be able to meet diverse patient needs and respond to expectations of patients, families, and visitors from diverse cultural backgrounds.
