Position Title: Child Development Center Director
Location: Orangeburg Preparatory Schools, Orangeburg, SC
Reports To: Head of Schools
Employment Type: Full-time, 12-month position

Position Overview

Orangeburg Preparatory Schools seeks an experienced, mission-driven Child Development Center Director to lead and oversee our early childhood program serving young learners in a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment. The Director is responsible for the academic, operational, and administrative leadership of the Child Development Center and plays a key role in ensuring a strong foundation for students entering Orangeburg Prep.

The ideal candidate is an experienced early childhood educator and leader who values collaboration, clear communication, and high standards for teaching, care, and family engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide vision and leadership for the Child Development Center aligned with Orangeburg Prep’s mission and values.
• Ensure developmentally appropriate curriculum and instructional practices for early learners.
• Oversee classroom environments that promote safety, learning, and social-emotional growth.
• Support smooth transitions from the Child Development Center into lower school programs.

Staff Management

• Hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate Child Development Center faculty and staff.
• Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative team culture.
• Coordinate professional development and ensure staff meet certification and training requirements.

Operations and Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all state licensing, health, and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate records, schedules, and required documentation.
• Develop and manage the Child Development Center budget in collaboration with school leadership.
• Oversee daily operations, including enrollment, staffing, and facility needs.

Family and Community Engagement

• Serve as the primary point of contact for Child Development Center families.
• Communicate clearly and consistently with parents regarding program goals, policies, and student progress.
• Build strong relationships with families and represent the Center positively within the school and broader community.

Collaboration and School Leadership

• Work closely with the Head of Schools and the administrative team to support school-wide goals.
• Participate in leadership meetings, planning initiatives, and school events.
• Contribute to long-term planning and continuous improvement efforts for early childhood education at Orangeburg Prep.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required;
  Master’s degree preferred in Early Childhood Education, Education Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in early childhood education, including leadership or administrative experience.
  
  Knowledge of child development, early learning standards, and best practices.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience with state licensing and regulatory compliance.
• A commitment to professional growth and excellence in early childhood education.
