Responsibilities
  • Clinical Care
    • Implements accurate, safe, patient‑centric anesthetic care.
  • Professional Skill
    • Understand physiological implications and anesthetic considerations of surgical procedures, constantly monitoring vital signs, capnography and pulse oximetry during anesthesia according to ASA guidelines.
  • Information Management
    • Ensure appropriate documentation within hospital and regulatory requirements, protecting all forms of information from unauthorized access or disclosure.

    • Demonstrate a high standard of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion and commitment to patient care.

Call CRNA Requirements

Full‑time, 24/7 model with in‑house call responsibilities, including off‑shifts, weekends and holidays. Flexibility, excellent clinical skills, commitment to patient safety and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment are essential.

Qualifications

Education

  • Completion of a Certified Nurse Anesthetist Training Program.
  • Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) or the Commission on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA).
  • Current Connecticut nursing license, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the State of Connecticut.

Experience

  • Preferred: clinical experience as a CRNA within the specialty/service line requested, though not required.
  • APRNs, PAs, CRNAs and CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS hospital and credentialed through the Medical Staff process, with evidence of current competence via reference letters.

Licensure

  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (AANA Certification).
  • State of Connecticut RN and APRN license.
  • ACLS, DEA registration and Controlled Substance Registration in Connecticut.

Special Skills

  • Sharp concentration, focus and calm under stress.
  • Excellent communication with surgeons, surgical support team, patients and family.
  • Immediate, responsive anesthetic patient management; flexibility and adaptability are required.

Physical Demands

  • Good vision, hearing, and tactile sensation; ability to detect and interpret monitoring alarms and equipment changes.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds, stand for long periods, and wear lead as needed for fluoroscopy/ X‑Ray cases.
  • Capability to negotiate patient care environments and move patients between anesthesia locations.
  • Strong intellectual, integrative and quantitative abilities; problem‑solving and spatial reasoning skills.
  • Emotional resilience to tolerate physically taxing workloads and function effectively under stress.
