Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring a valid CA RN license in hand and Epic EMR experience.

• Hospital-based Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Telemetry-focused patient population requiring cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Skills utilized include IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access and management, central line care, PCA management, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur Evac), and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Epic EMR experience required
• No blocked or self-scheduling permitted
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Candidates who have previously worked at this health system must have been away for a minimum of 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No RTO permitted within the first 2 weeks of assignment; a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract is strongly preferred
• All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of consideration and cannot be changed once under review
• Orientation includes completion of online modules (estimated 4–8 hours); modules are self-reported

• Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration; EMSA licenses not accepted
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• At least 1 year of acute care experience in a Med/Surg Telemetry setting required within the past 2 years
• Epic EMR experience required and must be reflected in work history
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Two supervisory references required (at least one from a supervisor, director, or manager within the past year from a relevant unit; the second may be from a charge nurse, co-worker, or educator within the past 2 years)
• Must pass an EKG exam (3 attempts allowed)
