The Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute–designated comprehensive cancer center in Orange County, offering advanced hematologic oncology and the region’s only adult hematopoietic stem‑cell transplant services.

Your Role

As a Nurse Practitioner II in the Hematology/Oncology Division, you will provide independent, comprehensive inpatient care for patients undergoing stem‑cell transplant and cellular therapy. You will work under the supervision of the Medical Director(s) and Nurse Practitioner Supervisor, coordinating multidisciplinary care, delivering treatment, education, monitoring, and communicating with patients, families, and referring physicians.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in the comprehensive care of patients in the inpatient setting at UCI Irvine Hospital.
  • Provide multidisciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication.
  • Assist with bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, and other standard inpatient procedures within scope of practice.
  • Maintain credentialing and privileges through Medical Staff prior to initial work day.
  • Collaborate with the supervising physician and administrative manager to support quality of care and clinical responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license.
  • Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Unrestricted California Pharmaceutical and DEA registration.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification.
  • 2+ years of experience in Hematology/Oncology, preferably with stem‑cell transplant and/or cellular therapy.
  • Demonstrated competency in comprehensive assessments, symptom management, and palliative care principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to prepare clear medical reports and progress notes.
  • Compliance with privacy, confidentiality, and security policies related to Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Familiarity with supportive care interventions (pain, fatigue, nausea, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, cachexia).
  • Proficiency in addressing treatment–related toxicities and side‑effect management across chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation therapies.
  • Current National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Preferred
  • Experience in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant & Cellular Therapy.
Special Conditions
  • Obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges prior to hire.
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
