Overview

Responsibilities
  • Clinical: Provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of primarily Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and its related diagnoses in addition to all forms of congenital or acquired blood and bone marrow disorders; provide comprehensive assessment of disease activity and extent of physical disability; conduct psychosocial functional assessment and provide assistance; engage in child and family education and goal setting; develop a comprehensive treatment plan that includes specialized consultative services;

    provide medical orders for prescription refills, administration of medications, ancillary testing, and/or referrals; review ancillary test results and coordinate notification to the patient.
  • Administrative: Obtain and document consultations into the Electronic Medical Record; complete all documentation and paperwork in a timely manner and in compliance with insurance and reimbursement guidelines; work closely with Medical Director and physicians to provide leadership and medical direction for the clinic; expand the services of the clinic through program development.
  • Service: Establish and maintain trusting relationships with pediatric patients and their parents, and adult patients and their extended families; establish and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with physicians, nurses, social workers, physical therapists and other allied health professionals.

About the Organization

The Center for Comprehensive Care & Diagnosis of Inherited Blood Disorders (CIBD), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is committed to providing comprehensive care for patients and their families with rare, chronic inherited blood disorders. CIBD is a part of a nationwide network of over 140 Hemophilia Treatment Centers that use multidisciplinary teams of blood disorder specialists to provide expert comprehensive diagnosis, medical care, outreach, education, outcomes monitoring, surveillance, and prevention services to people with Hemophilia, Sickle-Cell Anemia, Thalassemia, Von Willebrand Disease, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and other related benign hematology conditions.

CIBD is the regional grantee for the Western States Region for Hemophilia, the Pacific Sickle Cell Regional Collaborative (PSCRC) and Networking California for Sickle Cell Care (NCSCC) providing regional leadership, fiscal and administrative oversight, grants management, capacity building, clinical education, technical assistance, evaluation, and outreach to public and private health agencies at the local, state, and federal levels.
