Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse II is responsible for planning and delivering family-centered patient care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This position directs and coordinates nursing care for patients according to established standards, collaborates with patients, families, and other disciplines, and promotes excellence in nursing care. The role works four (4) 8‑hour shifts per week (32 hours) between Monday and Friday.

Pay

Range

Minimum $52.93 – Midpoint $70.13 – Maximum $87.32 per hour.

Experience
  • Required:

    Minimum one (1) year of acute care nursing experience with six (6) months in a pediatric setting.
  • Preferred:
    One (1) year of acute care nursing experience within a pediatric inpatient hospital.
Education
  • Required:

    Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing;
    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (effective on all offers made after November 1, 2015).
Training
  • Required:

    None required.

  • Knowledge of and ability to provide appropriate family-centered patient care based upon age appropriateness and cultural/spiritual needs.
  • Excellent customer satisfaction and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete duties timely and organized.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and positively with others.
  • Ability to prepare accurate documentation and reports.
  • Ability to perform work according to CHOC’s policies, professional standards, and applicable laws.

Licensure
  • Required:

    Basic Life Support (BLS);
    Registered Nurse – CA (RN);
    Ped Emerg Assess Recog & Stabil (PEARS) within six (6) months of hire.
Work Environments – Functional Demand

Light to moderate energy level; lift and carry 25–35 lbs; push/pull 50–100 lbs.

Physical Activity Requirements

Bending, carrying objects, climbing, keyboard use, pinching, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, squatting, standing, talking/hearing, tasting/smelling, twisting, walking, wrist position deviations.

Physical Activity Lifting

Floor to waist level – constant 67 %+, frequent 36–66 %, occasional 0–35 %. Waist level and above – constant 67 %+, frequent 36–66 %, occasional 0–35 %.

Sensory Requirements

Color discrimination, depth perception, far vision, hearing, near vision.

Environment Requirements

Airborne communicable disease, blood borne pathogens, chemicals, dust particulates, extreme noise, extreme temperatures, radiation, uneven surfaces.
