Job Summary Are you interested in joining CHOC’s mighty brigade of nurses in our Emergency Department? The Clinical Nurse II is responsible for the planning and delivery of family‑centered patient care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. This position collaborates with patient/family and other professional disciplines to create a partnership to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery for the achievement of mutually desired patient outcomes. The Clinical Nurse II works to support the organization’s vision and mission while promoting and providing excellence in nursing care.
Pay Range Minimum $56.96 Midpoint $74.05 Maximum $91.14
Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
- Experience Required:
Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience in an emergency, critical care or acute care setting. - Preferred:
Previous pediatric emergency department experience.
- Education Required:
Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing;
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) required within 2 years of hire.
- Specialized Skills Required:
Knowledge of and ability to provide appropriate family‑centered patient care based upon age appropriateness and cultural and spiritual needs;

Ability to prioritize and complete duties in a timely and organized manner;

Ability to prepare timely and accurate documentation and reports;

- Licensure Required:
Registered Nurse – California (RN), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS);
Basic Life Support (BLS);
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider – Essentials (NRP);
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS);
Comprehensive Crisis Management within 3 months of hire;
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) within 6 months of hire. - Preferred:
Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN), Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN).
Work Environments – Functional Demand Light – Moderate energy level. Lift and carry 25–35 lbs. Push/pull 50–100 lbs. (e.g., empty bed, stretcher).
