Experienced Lumber Handler

A company in Orange is looking for an Experienced Lumber Handler to join their team. This company values teamwork, professional growth and drive, and work-life balance for all team members. This individual will be working in their yard and will be responsible for pulling lumber for orders. They will also receive containers of lumber and sort and check in the material.

The ideal candidate will need to be able to run a large fork lift and will need to know or learn NHLA lumber grading rules. Former experience is a big plus for this role.
This position is a temp to hire position with a pay of $24 to $30 per hour based on experience. The hours are 5AM- 1:30PM Monday through Friday with possible overtime.

Job Responsibilities

• Select and pull lumber orders according to customer specifications and order tickets
• Inspect lumber for quality, grade, and defects before loading
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
• Load and unload delivery trucks with lumber products
• Organize and maintain inventory in the lumber yard or warehouse
• Ensure all pulled orders are accurate and complete before shipment
• Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
• Communicate effectively with warehouse supervisors, drivers, and team members
• Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as needed
• Report any damaged or defective materials to management

Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 75 pounds) and perform physical labor throughout the day
• Previous lumber yard experience is preferred
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification
• Basic math skills for counting and measuring lumber accurately
• Attention to detail to ensure order accuracy
• Ability to read and interpret order tickets and product specifications
• Good communication skills and team-oriented attitude
• Reliable and punctual with strong work ethic
• Ability to work in various weather conditions

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $24.00 - $30.00 Per Hour
