Supervisor Accounting

Overview

The Supervisor, Accounting will join a mission-driven, community-based organization that serves member health with excellence and dignity. This role supports the Accounting team and partners with providers, community partners, and local stakeholders to shape the future of healthcare. The position includes partial telework; if telework is approved, you must work within California and, if partial telework, come to the Main Office in Orange, CA at least two days per week.

• Assist management with the direct supervision of accounting operations and/or the general ledger division, providing explanations and recommendations to develop and maintain accounting principles, practices and procedures for accurate and timely closing, financial reporting and variance analysis.
• 60% - Supervision and program support: supervise staff, participate in a culture of high-quality performance with a member focus, oversee accounts payable/receivable, treasury, investments, and ad hoc functions; train staff and set performance goals; monitor department work to improve procedures and resource use.
• 40% - Program support: apply understanding of Cal Optima Health policies, review and approve journal entries and monthly analyses, assist management with monthly financial package analysis, advise staff on non-routine transactions, coordinate with other departments to verify data, manage relationships with external parties (statutory agencies, providers, vendors), and support audits.
• Complete other projects and duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field plus 3 years of accounting or finance experience; equivalent education/experience may qualify.
• 1 year of senior level and/or lead experience required.

• Supervisory experience; financial or accounting experience in managed care, health plan or hospital settings.

• Develop rapport and effective working relationships with leadership, staff, and external contacts.
• Work independently with sound judgment; communicate clearly in writing and orally.
• Flexible schedule; availability for evening and weekend events.
• Analytical, organized, and capable of project management; handle multiple projects and foster collaboration.
• Use Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and job-specific applications to produce documents and data.

• Ability to read on-screen information and printed materials; clear spoken communication; adequate hearing for conversations and calls.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, and movement; ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds.

• Competitive compensation; current hiring range is Pay Grade 314 - $99,902 to $159,843. Final salary based on education, experience, and internal equity.
• Partial Telework option (if telework, eligible in California). In-office training may be required in the first month (Tuesday–Thursday, 7:30 am–4:30 pm).
