Your Role on the Team Position Summary

The incumbent provides budgetary, financial and operational reporting and analyses for Transplant Services. Responds to ad hoc requests for information determining what is needed; what sources are required and available from which to gather information; and optimal ways to present clear and concise results. Monitors budgets and prepares monthly financial and budget variance reports investigating discrepancies as they arise. Verify charges for monthly billing of clinical, departmental and outside hospitals, recharges for Transplant program.

In addition the incumbent participates on cross organizational committees and projects contributing analytical support and/or knowledge of lean sigma process improvement methodologies as appropriate.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office products to include Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to summarize key information clearly and concisely
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must have prior work experience with medical billing and collection processes
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Knowledgeable of rules and regulations governing various payers to include Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance carriers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to identify/set priorities and manage workload accordingly
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve independently and/or collaboratively as the situation dictates
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and develop and recommend new processes as needed
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of billing related EDI formats and requirements. Must possess the knowledge to map specifications for EDI using ANSI-837
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations governing various payers to include Medicare and Medicaid and End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Medicare and Social Security regulations
  • Knowledge of lean sigma process improvement methodologies
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • Knowledge of Hospital Cost Reporting
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Computer Sciences or related field
  • Ability to read and understand intent of regulatory documents to be able to assess impact on current operational processes
