As part of the UCI Health Enterprise Float Pool, the clinical nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients, ensuring the coordination of care between other disciplines and support staff. The role performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age‑appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene, and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.
The nurse will evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of the plan of care, and readiness for discharge, revising the plan or making referrals as necessary. The clinical nurse acts as a role model and mentor to a variety of students and nurses new to the unit and functions as a Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) as requested by the supervisor/manager.
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in an acute care hospital setting
- All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
- Ability to float between Orange and Irvine campuses
- Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (additional education)

- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
