AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Geologist for employment in the Orange CA office or Long Beach. This position will support the Environmental business line primarily working on Federal projects.

Responsibilities
  • Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems.
  • Prepares technical work plans and reports.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Plan, execute, analyze and report on environmental measures in natural systems.
  • Familiar with project invoicing and cash flow management.
  • Manages and directs professional and technical staff to complete complex environmental projects.
  • Leads teams by utilizing advanced scientific principles, theories and practices.
  • Apply knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology and mathematics) to explain observations.
  • Utilizes existing technologies and past experience to develop technical solutions to complex problems.
  • Conduct oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies.
  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Analyzes financial statements and completes budget tracking.
  • Performs work with minimal direction with periodic reporting to area manager.
  • Oversees the preparation of work plans and organizes project studies.
  • Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems with the support of the project team.
  • Supervises junior and mid-level staff during all phases of project work.
  • Conducts reviews and provides staff feedback for continued improvement.
  • Shows flexibility to work on a multitude of projects, a positive attitude and commitment to workplace health and safety.
Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS in Geology or related field 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S. Drivers License.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position may need to pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • Due to the nature of the work US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Geology or related field.
  • Professional License (PG).
  • 7 years of experience in environmental remediation (soil and water) project management.
  • Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations.
  • Experience with developing conceptual site models and preparing remediation strategies.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials and fellow employees.
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck.
  • Be medically fit for wearing a respirator.
  • Ability to travel.
