Drafting Specialist

Location: SCG - CT - Orange - 60 Marsh Hill Rd

Hourly Rate: $46.71 - $51.26

To develop and maintain geospatial data and a data repository for the natural gas mapping system, update and organize completed work order records. Understand and interpret requests for information and execute appropriate analysis to fulfill requests.

• Primary duties include updating and maintaining a GIS system including but not limited to as-built gas facility data, planimetric data, and map corrections.
• Perform CAD work for new business main designs.
• Use computers for reports and record updates; perform other Engineering Office support work (e.g., scanning as‑builts, printing facility maps for contractors or other departments, customer lists, and filing hard‑copy maps) as directed by supervision.
• Operate reproduction equipment and provide copies of facility data as requested.
• Operate imaging equipment and maintain image records.
• Review field reports for completeness and maintain as-built facility project record tracking systems and facility attribute records.
• Provide field data capture to support as-built facility records and planimetric map data as directed by supervision.
• Create and maintain special‑purpose distribution system maps, facility details, and other drawings or maps as directed by supervision.
• Answer telephone calls; contact offices of State, City, Town utilities and contractors as directed by supervision.

• Working knowledge of the company’s current GIS software; GIS certificate or professional experience with GIS.
• Experience with computer‑aided drafting applications.
• Experience using computers and related printers/plotters.
• Ability to understand and learn company construction standards, applicable codes and regulations, and engineering drafting standards, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to understand and learn company imaging applications.
• Knowledge of natural gas distribution industry technology.
• Ability to interpret and transcribe field notes to and from paper and electronic records.
• Basic training in civil and mechanical drawing and mathematics.
• Active MVD license and good driving record.

• Proficient in ArcGIS Pro and Utility Network Editing.
• Proficient with Computer‑Aided Drafting software.
