Health Sciences Clinical Professor, Ranks - School of Medicine

Overview

The Department of Surgery in the School of Medicine, University of California, Irvine, anticipates openings for physicians in its various divisions. These openings will be at the level of Assistant, Associate and Clinical Professor, depending upon the candidate’s qualifications, and will be in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series.

Divisions include:
Cardiac Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Colon and Rectal Surgery, Emergency General Surgery (EGS), Gastrointestinal Surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Transplantation Surgery, Trauma Surgery, and Vascular Surgery.

Faculty are expected to excel in teaching, mentoring, service, professional competence, and scholarly contributions. For Associate Professor or Professor ranks, a record demonstrating contributions to scholarly, creative, or administrative activities is required. These contributions, particularly in clinical teaching and service, will be assessed within the context of academic responsibilities and time available for scholarly work.

Basic qualifications (required at time of application): M.D., M.D./Ph.D., board certification or eligibility in the specialty, with a California medical license and DEA required on the first day of employment.
