Accountant II – Overview
Join Cal Optima, a mission‑driven community‑based organization that serves member health with excellence and dignity. The Accountant II supports the accounting team, preparing, recording, and reconciling transactions, maintaining the General Ledger, and providing management reports. This position is approved as Partial Telework. If telework is approved, work is limited to California only; partial telework also requires presence at the Main Office in Orange, CA, at least two days per week.
- Perform complex accounting activities, including preparing and posting journal entries, closing books monthly and annually, and completing the monthly financial package.
- Monitor daily cash flow, prepare weekly cash forecasts, and reconcile bank and investment accounts.
- Assist with financial and regulatory audits and research changes to Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and other regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain departmental records, reports, and data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
- Assist with developing policies, procedures, and standards for accounting activities.
- Provide administrative support as needed, collaborating across departments.
- Complete additional projects and duties assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field plus four (4) years of accounting experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also qualify.
- Experience with health care or not‑for‑profit settings is a plus.
- Ability to read information from computer screens, forms, and other printed materials.
- Ability to speak clearly and use telephone and face‑to‑face communication effectively.
- Manual dexterity for typing, writing, and standing; flexibility for bending, kneeling, and prolonged sitting.
- Legally lifting and moving objects up to 25 pounds.
- Competitive salary. Pay Grade: 310 – $72,096 – $115,353 (range: $34,660 – $55,458).
- Partial Telework: eligible for California only.
