Description Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN / FNP) – Primary Care – Coastal Health
Coastal Health is seeking a full-time, motivated Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our outpatient primary care practice. This role is ideal for a patient-focused provider who thrives in a collaborative physician-led environment and is committed to delivering high-quality, comprehensive care across the lifespan. The APRN will provide primary care services under the supervision of licensed physicians, including patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management.
The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, compassionate, and committed to continuity of care.
- Perform comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical histories and physical examinations
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions in a primary care setting
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and laboratory results
- Prescribe medications and administer treatments, including injections
- Manage pain-related conditions within scope of practice
- Monitor ongoing therapies and ensure continuity of care
- Consult with supervising physicians as needed and refer complex or non-routine cases appropriately
- Triage patient calls and assess clinical concerns, providing guidance or escalation as necessary
- Respond to medical emergencies, including performing CPR when required
- Educate patients and families on preventive care, wellness, and disease management
- Accurately document patient encounters and care plans in the electronic medical record

- Master’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner program
- Current Florida RN license (or eligibility)
- Certification (or eligibility for certification) as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in an outpatient or primary care setting required
- Knowledge
- Strong understanding of the medical model and collaborative roles of physicians and nurse practitioners
- Knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, and physical diagnosis
- Proficiency in patient assessment, diagnosis, and development of treatment plans
- Understanding of medical documentation standards and patient confidentiality
- Skills
- Ability to gather and analyze clinical, socioeconomic, and psychosocial patient data
- Strong clinical judgment when evaluating patients in person or via telephone triage
- Ability to develop and adjust patient care plans based on clinical status
- Abilities
- Ability to make sound clinical decisions within the APRN scope of practice
- Strong collaboration skills with physicians and healthcare team members
- Ability to clearly educate patients, families, and staff
- Physical ability to perform clinical duties, including manual dexterity and mobility
- Current state registered nurse license
- Current state license as an advanced registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority
- Current CPR certification
- Knowledge of advanced practice nursing including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and therapeutics, basic nutrition, behavioral factors, psychosocial/family systems, diagnostic testing, interpretation of results and clinical decision making, alternative treatment modalities
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations related to evaluating and providing patient care, and professional ethics related to the delivery of nursing care
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments used to administer patient care
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment
- Knowledge of health promotion, health risk identification, and patient education principles and techniques
