Job SummaryThe Medical Assistant is the primary first point of contact for patient care, handling administrative duties alongside direct patient care. Responsibilities include clinical duties such as discussing symptoms, obtaining vital signs, medication/vaccine administration, phlebotomy, specimen collection, performing diagnostic screening tests, sterilizing/cleaning equipment, maintaining examination rooms, and documenting information in the electronic medical records system. The role collaborates closely with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers, operating within defined parameters while exercising independent discretion and prioritization.
Responsibilities- Discuss symptoms, obtain vital signs, and perform medication/vaccine administration.
- Conduct phlebotomy and specimen collection, performing diagnostic screening tests.
- Sterilize equipment, clean and maintain examination rooms.
- Document all patient information in the electronic medical record system.
- Collaborate with physicians and advanced practice providers to deliver direct patient care as certification permits.
- Interpret department policy to make clinical decisions within established standards.
- 1+ year of Medical Assistant and phlebotomy experience.
- Completion of an accredited MA program, Certified/Registered Medical Assistant, or 5+ years of experience with provider approval.
- Current and active CPR certification.
- As the position is patient‑facing, TB screening will be required if selected.
- Medical Assistant Certification or Registration (Arizona, Indiana, & South Carolina candidates).
- Additional phlebotomy, medication/vaccine administration experience.
- 2+ years of MA experience.
- Value‑Based Care experience including HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, with proof of proficiency.
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours per week).

Additional InformationThis role is part of Humana’s Tuberculosis (TB) screening program; selected candidates will be required to undergo TB screening.

Pay and IncentivesCo‑ordination with pay range details: $40,000.00 – $52,300.00 per year. The compensation may vary based on location and demonstrated qualifications. This position is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
