RN / LPN – John Knox Village of Central Florida

Position: RN or LPN
Shift: Full Time – 3pm‑11pm & 11pm‑7am

Provide professional nursing care to residents, following established policies, regulations, and standards of practice on an assigned unit, and assure resident safety.

• Provide nursing care in accordance with physician orders and established plan of care to assure continuity and meet the individual needs of the resident while assuring resident safety at all times.
• Safe administration of medications and treatments in accordance with recognized standards of practice including infection control.
• Supervise CNA staff to ensure that facility policies and procedures are followed, and that all state and federal regulations are adhered to.
• Oversee CNA assignments, and supervise that duties and responsibilities are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assist residents/families with concerns or issues they report, including management of grievances versus reportable events.
• Assist with admissions/discharges to/from assigned unit, perform assessments/evaluations as necessary.
• Observe residents for changes in condition. Notify physician of any changes, incidents, injuries or other unusual events that require attention and request orders as indicated.
• Document any change of condition, incidents, injuries or unusual events in the resident’s medical record.
• Take and transcribe physician orders in accordance with facility policies and assist with monthly review of physician orders.
• Participate in and complete all required in‑service educational programs and competency evaluations.

• Assure resident safety at all times.
• Assist during disasters as needed.
• Assist with monthly review of physician orders.
• Other duties as requested or assigned, including performing resident nurse duties for independent living residents after hours, on weekends, and holidays.
• Manage time in an effort to minimize or eliminate overtime.

• Usually works indoors but may have to work outside during outside events and parties.
• May have to get into awkward positions or work in cramped spaces.
• May be exposed to loud noises.
• May be exposed to diseases or infections from contact with residents or other staff members.
• Often exposed to contaminants.
• May sometimes need to wear safety gear such as gloves and/or masks.
• May have to handle hazardous waste in accordance with infection control procedures.

• Must pass Level 2 background screening through the Florida Clearinghouse.
• Must be a licensed nurse in good standing with the state of Florida.
• Employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Physical requirements may include frequent use of hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee may be required to lift, stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and smell.
  
  Vision abilities may require close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• For the safety and security of our residents and employees must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English, which is the most universally used language of our residents and employee population.
• Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
• Must meet all local health regulations and post‑offer physical exam.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Requires frequent standing and walking.
• Current CPR certification.

• Must maintain a professional, respectful, friendly demeanor with all residents, family members, guests, and staff at all times.
