Hours: M-F 2pm - 6pm
Job SummaryThe Expect Excellence Early Elementary Counselors are responsible for leading and assisting in programs and experiences for small groups of elementary age children in grades Pre-k through 2nd grade. Ideal employees would be mature persons with experience in sports, music, dance, arts and crafts, recreation games, etc. Counselors are responsible for the general safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in his/her group.
Camp Counselors will fully engage in programs and assist instructors to provide high quality educational and recreational experiences for participants that focus on academics, arts and athletics. Responsibilities may include front desk work and driving vans for field trips.
School aged children.
Essential functions- Assist in facilitating a variety of small and large group activities each week.
- Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter.
- Communicate with the Program Administrator about participant’s experiences and report concerns including identifying and responding to camper behavioral issues.
- Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports.
Skills and Abilities
- Know and understand all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
- Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
- Maintain control of assigned small groups and fully participate during program times while instructors are facilitating a specific program
- Upon hire, completion of First Aid and CPR certification. (Classes provided)
- Education classes or experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field.
- Possess a Valid Driver’s License.
- Possess a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to swimming, team building initiatives, physical games, and activities.
Work environmentWork in conditions that will vary from indoor to outdoor in summer heat.
