About the Role:
Under the directions and supervision of professional and practical nursing staff, routine duties in caring for our patients’ needs, activities of daily living, and unit maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant training program.
- Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent as required by state regulations.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) required.
- Basic proficiency in computer use for documentation purposes.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with patient care and mobility assistance.
- Experience working in assisted living or primary care settings.
- Additional certifications in wound care or infection control.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated compassion and patience in patient care.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Performs routine duties in caring for patients’ needs and activities of daily living, i.e., hygiene, comfort, ambulation.
- Functions as an assistant to the nurse as assigned.
- Documents and maintains data or patient’s record.
- Observes assigned patients and documents observations according to policy.
- Performs related work as required.
- Demonstrates and promotes an awareness of patient’s age, growth, development, and cultural / spiritual.
- Acts as a patient advocate.
- Cooperates as a member of the nursing unit, department and overall hospital team.
- Participates in performance improvement.
- Communicates pertinent data to appropriate parties.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Conducts himself/herself effectively in stressful situations.
- Approaches situations with distressed patients, families and visitors in a calm, professional manner.
- Maintains a safe and clean environment.
The required skills such as patient care, vital signs monitoring, wound care, and infection control are fundamental to daily nursing assistant duties, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Basic computer literacy enables efficient documentation and communication within the healthcare team, supporting accurate and timely information sharing. Compassion and primary care skills are essential for building trust and providing emotional support to patients, enhancing their overall care experience.
Regular and predictable attendance ensures reliability and continuity of care, which is critical in healthcare environments. Preferred skills like experience in assisted living and familiarity with electronic health records further enhance the Nursing Assistant's ability to deliver specialized and efficient care.
