Overview
Position Title McCrary Institute Undergraduate Security Operations Center Support
Working Title (if different from Position Title)
The position of Student Security Operations Center ( SOC ) Support within the McCrary Institute for Cyber and Critical Infrastructure Security is responsible for supporting the Alabama Cybersecurity Intelligence Center ( ACIC ) which provides managed cybersecurity services for multiple entities in detection and responding to security related events. This position will support daily security operations by leveraging relevant tools, technologies, processes, and procedures to ensure the safe and secure operation of networks and support response to information security related incidents and alerts.
Responsibilities- Monitor security events, alerts, and logs from various security systems
- Investigate and triage security incidents to determine severity, scope, and impact
- Follow established incident response procedures and playbooks to mitigate and resolve incidents in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation related to security event analysis, actions taken, and resolutions for each event

Minimum Qualifications- Auburn University undergraduate student in good standing
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Strong written and spoken communication skills
- Interest in Information Technology and Cybersecurity
- Team player and willing to work in a team/group setting
- Experience with IT Support, security monitoring, and/or incident detection and response
- Knowledge of scripting languages and data analysis tools such as Splunk search processing Language ( SPL )
- Problem solving mindset that desires to learn new things and excel daily
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow structured processes
- Must have the ability to work 15 hours per week
Pay Rate $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
