Do you like nature and the outdoors? Do you like teaching about the natural world? Come and work part‑time at the Kreher Preserve & Nature Center (KPNC) as a Nature Educator! The KPNC is seeking teachers/naturalists to conduct educational programs and classes, lead camps and guided hikes, and assist with community events, all pertaining to outdoor and natural themes. Under the direct supervision of the KPNC Education Director, you will be teaching about a variety of possible topics including plant life and ecology, animal life and ecology, native/non‑native species, forestry, geology, astronomy, biodiversity, climate, natural history, and much more.
Classes consist of a broad range of students, interactive and engaging lessons, and innovative teaching strategies.
- Leads interactive lessons on natural subject areas.
- Completes entire lesson lifecycle including setup, lesson planning, material prep, presenting, and cleanup.
- Leads guided hikes.
- Supervises students of all ages.
- Assists with community events.
- Sets up program materials and displays for presentations and programs.
- Cleans and organizes educational materials and supplies.
- Researches and develops educational materials, references, and guides.
- Experience leading/teaching students.
- Experience working with the natural world.
- Excellent communication skills including written and verbal.
- Ability to interact with students from a diversity of ages, races, ethnicities, and backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently, with little supervision.
Bachelor’s degree in natural sciences, education, or a related field.
Salary Range$12.00 hour
Work Hours10 hours per week as scheduled.
