Compensation:$35/hour

Schedule: Full-time – 30 hours per week.

Evening and weekend availability required

Position Overview

Are you ready to lead excellence in aviation training?

Select Aviation College is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Chief Helicopter Pilot to oversee its commercial helicopter operations (702/703) and deliver flight training programs.

You will be responsible for supervising flight crews, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and maintaining high-quality training, while also representing the company with Transport Canada

Your Main Responsibilities
As Chief Pilot – 702/703 Operations
  • Supervise helicopter pilots and uphold professional standards
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and flight policies (MANEX)
  • Ensure operations comply with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Transport Canada standards
  • Plan initial and recurrent pilot training, Pilot Competency Checks (PCCs), and operational audits
  • Review incident and safety reports, coordinate corrective actions, and follow up with the operations manager
  • Mentor and evaluate flight crews to maintain high levels of competence and safety
  • Maintain up-to-date training records, flight logs, and regulatory documentation
  • Actively contribute to the implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Participate in the selection, qualification, and onboarding of new pilots
  • Represent the company with Transport Canada on operational compliance matters
  • Provide technical advice for special operations, passenger transport, aerial photography, and external load flights
  • Promote a strong safety culture and maintain professionalism at all times
As Flight Instructor – Class 2
  • Deliver theoretical and practical training for helicopter pilot permits and licenses (private, commercial, instructor)
  • Prepare and conduct ground school, pre-flight briefings, and post-flight debriefings
  • Supervise Class 4 instructors and ensure consistent training quality
  • Assess student performance, address gaps, and monitor progress
  • Maintain Pilot Training Records (PTRs) and evaluation reports
  • Continuously improve training materials, lesson plans, and instructional guides
  • Ensure training aligns with internal policies, flight manuals, and Transport Canada requirements
  • Prepare students for flight tests and evaluate readiness based on TP 3077 and TP 14728 standards
  • Monitor flight training safety and proactively intervene when risks arise
  • Provide positive, professional, and motivating guidance to support student success
Candidate Profile

Education and Experience
  • Valid Commercial Helicopter Pilot License (CPL-H)
  • Valid Class 2 Flight Instructor Rating (Helicopter)
  • Minimum 500 hours as Pilot-in-Command on helicopters
  • Experience in crew supervision, management, and pilot training
Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), Standards 421, 722, and 723, and the company’s operations manual
  • In-depth understanding of aerodynamics, aircraft performance, meteorology, and human factors
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and demanding environment
  • Excellent communication, teaching, and leadership skills
