Overview
This recruitment is limited to current San Bernardino County, San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, or Special Districts employees who hold a regular, contract, extra-help, recurrent, Public Service Employee, Work Experience Program (WEX) or intern position. Former PSE, WEX, or interns are eligible to apply up to six (6) months from the end of their assignment. San Bernardino County is recruiting for Supervising Office Assistants who plan and supervise the work of a clerical and/or customer service unit. Incumbents perform duties such as hiring and disciplinary actions; planning and organizing daily clerical support operations; setting work standards, systems and office procedures; coordinating clerical services with other departmental operations; maintaining office records; compiling information and preparing reports, budget justifications, special projects and studies;
supervising the preparation of reports, forms and correspondence; handling complex documents and other materials; and addressing unusual and difficult problems referred by subordinates.
This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies in Ontario within the Transitional Assistance Department (TAD). Responsibilities- Plan and supervise the work of a clerical and/or customer service unit.
- Participate in hiring and disciplinary actions.
- Plan and organize daily clerical support operations of an office; set work standards, systems and procedures.
- Coordinate clerical services with other departmental operations.
- Maintain office records; compile information and prepare reports, budget justifications, and studies.
- Supervise the preparation of reports, forms, and correspondence, including complex documents and materials.
- Handle unusual and difficult problems referred by subordinates.
- Three (3) years of full-time office clerical experience, including performing a wide variety of complex and responsible clerical duties, serving as a lead clerical worker, or supervising a clerical unit.
- Progressively responsible clerical experience with supervisory responsibilities and strong computer/keyboarding skills is preferred.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
