Logistics Specialist

SUMMARY OF OPPORTUNITY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Transportation, the Logistics Specialist will coordinate
between various bases to control the on time delivery of students to school and events. They will
be responsible for the efficient dispatch of buses and handle the associated administration. The
Logistics Specialist will ensure the smooth running of routes, issuing routes to bases for drivers
and correct documentation to ensure that all administration is taken care of regarding the
dispatch of buses.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
The following outlines what your core duties and responsibilities will be for this position and
provides a sample overview of what your day-to-day may look like.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
* Perform routing clerical duties in an effective and efficient manner.
* Monitor and communicate effectively through two-way radios and telephones.
* Respond to IPS staff, parent, and students regarding transportation questions.
* Enter late bus information in systems for buses that may run late while out on route.
* Contact parents as needed for transportation issues.
* Maintain and protect confidential reports and personnel records.
* Conduct onsite visits at schools when needed to address transportation issues, including
bus timeliness and overloads. Document and communicate information to Project Lead
* Organize and communicate information to internal departments and outside contacts as
needed. Maintains positive relations with customers and carriers.
* Submit, track transportation change requests via applicable online request tool
* Oversee all routes adjustments need at bases and forward information to Project Lead for
updates to ensure that routes are efficient.
* Manage all routes throughout the month to resolve and troubleshoot routing problems,
including and unsafe conditions.
* Answer and respond to customers' inquiries regarding routing problems.
* Work with GPS software to verify routes are being completed.
* Issue transportation passes for maintaining transportation records and finances.
* Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
* Other duties as assigned.
"Day In the Life" Overview
On a regular day, as the Logistics Specialist, you might:
● Provide notice to staff and parents regarding any changes to routes.
● Utilize routing system to lookup student and route information and troubleshoot issues as
needed
● Perform light routing functions as requested, including student assignments.
WHAT YOU'll BRING: SKILLS AND MINDSETS
As an ideal candidate for this role, you will be able to achieve the following:
● Summarize and document route concerns activity.
● Ensure compliance of company policies in route settlement functions.
● Evaluate new routes in coordination with bus company to confirm that bus routes conform
to school policies.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
● High school diploma
● Two to five years' previous experience in routing, clerical, and communication work
experience
