The OpenNMS Group is seeking a skilled and passionate Software Engineer to join our growing team focused on building and growing our open-source Network Monitoring Solution in use by numerous Fortune 500 companies.
This position allows the flexibility to work remotely from the United States, or remotely out of our office location in Belfast, Northern Ireland, dependent on work authorization.
Responsibilities- Help architect, design, and develop scalable features to meet product deliverables.
- Collaborate with other developers, architects, QA, devops and product management teams.
- Write well-designed, testable code including unit tests and basic documentation.
- Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.
- Be a part of discussions about code design, architecture, and refactoring to balance technical debt against delivering functionality.
- Work with little or no supervision.
- Apply software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Computer Science or a related field), although commensurate experience will be considered in lieu of degree
- Strong working knowledge in Java (3+ years)
- Must have a “can do” attitude and a hacker mindset to make things work in a complex product environment
- Experience having designed, implemented, and delivered, highly performant and scalable, software to a large customer base successfully.
- Solid knowledge of SQL and No
SQL data stores and efficient data schemas - Understanding of message systems such as Kafka, ActiveMQ
- Solid understanding of IP networking principles and network/application security
- Experience working in Agile environment.
- General Dev Ops knowledge: CI/CD, automation, build, deployment
- Working knowledge with Linux/UNIX and familiarity with shell scripting
- OSGi and/or Karaf
- Monitoring Systems
- Time Series DB
The salary range for applicable US-based applicants to th is position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.
$90,700 - $126,000 base salary plus bonus potential.
