Artificial Intelligence (AI) - INTERN
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has been a leader in advancing New York’s energy transition for over 50 years, protecting the environment and helping New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, lower energy costs and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. NYSERDA partners with residents, business owners, developers, community leaders, local government officials, universities, utilities, investors and entrepreneurs to develop, invest and foster conditions that:
- Attract the private sector capital investment needed to expand New York’s clean energy economy.
- Overcome barriers to using clean energy at a large scale in New York.
- Enable New York’s communities and residents to benefit equitably in the clean energy transition.
This is a paid internship for current students at an accredited college. The pay rate is from $18 to $20 per hour based on current class year. The internship will begin in the Spring 2026 semester or Summer 2026 and has the potential to continue into the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.
Interns must be in New York State or an immediately adjacent state while working. Interns are expected to follow our telework policy, with a combination of in‑office and remote work. They will work up to 18.5 hours per week during the semester, and up to 37.5 hours per week between semesters, when not attending classes.
The Data Solutions team seeks an intern with an interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The team is part of NYSERDA’s IT Department and supports teams across the Authority through data governance, data warehousing, open data, data visualization and data mapping. Interns with an interest in understanding and implementing AI policy in NYSERDA’s business operations are encouraged to apply. The selected intern will gain skills using specialized AI software, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Jira, Confluence and Tableau while learning about NYSERDA’s breadth of program offerings.
