Technical Team Lead, .AI; Remote

We are seeking Technical Team Leads to ensure high‑quality delivery across our application‑level products. In this role, you will guide a compact team of 3-5 engineers who develop educational applications serving thousands of students.

This position combines individual contribution with leadership: you will spend approximately 50% of your time implementing sophisticated features and the remaining 50% mentoring and supporting your engineers. Your role includes defining quality expectations, creating technical patterns, conducting code reviews with an educational emphasis, and fostering engineer development. Team results fall under your accountability, extending beyond individual code contributions.

You will work within a lean team structure with substantial ownership and minimal administrative overhead. Technical leadership is your focus; people management is handled separately.

• Implementing sophisticated features that establish technical direction for the team
• Conducting pull request reviews with comprehensive, instructional commentary
• Mentoring engineers through pair programming and targeted feedback
• Organizing technical initiatives and decomposing feature requirements
• Defining quality benchmarks and ensuring team adherence

• Handling personnel management (recruitment, termination, performance evaluations, career development discussions)
• Contributing to platform or infrastructure‑level systems
• Participating in excessive meeting schedules
• Designing architecture without hands‑on implementation

• At least 5 years of full‑stack development experience
• At least 2 years in a lead role (reviewing others' work, mentoring engineers, establishing team practices)
• Track record of shipping SaaS products
• Experience with AI tools in development workflow
• Demonstrated ability to help other engineers improve and grow

This is a full‑time (40 hours per week), long‑term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $100 USD/hour, which equates to $200,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
