Software Development Engineer in Test (Hybrid option)

Join a team of cybersecurity professionals and help Swiss Re to fulfil its mission in making the world more resilient. As a Software Development Engineer in Test with strong technical expertise, you will architect and implement advanced QA practices, including strategy, automation, execution, and non-functional testing. You will drive technical excellence and contribute to end-to-end solutions as a key member of our Dev Sec Ops  team.

About the team

The Security Team is the focal point for all security activities across Swiss Re. We are responsible for cybersecurity engineering and operations, governance, risk & compliance, group operational resilience, and corporate security. We define and advance the company's security strategy. As a part of the Security Team,the Customer Identity and Access Management team provides secure, reliable access to Swiss Re B2B applications for external users.

We protect data, ensure compliance, and build trust with clients and partners.

We're looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test with strong technical expertise to drive quality across our service portfolio. You will design and implement automated tests and production code, build tools and microservices, and architect our testing strategy. In

your role, you will…
  • Contribute to service development by implementing both test automation and production code.
  • Build tools and microservices to enable quality across all layers.
  • Design and maintain test frameworks and environments for reliable, fast testing.
  • Drive quality strategy, ensuring clear requirements and standards before execution.
  • Evangelize and support the development team in testing, automation, and Dev Ops best practices.
What we need from you
  • Passion, drive and belief in the value of quality assurance and innovation to make successful end-to-end solutions.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience designing, building, integrating and maintainingscalable automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience designing and implementing unit, mutation, component, and integration tests, with a focus on enabling fast and reliable test creation for each layer.
  • Exposure to UI testing frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress) and Page Object Model pattern.
  • Solid knowledge about API testing (REST).
  • 3+ years Java experience in testing frameworks and service code with Spring RESTful-based applications knowledge.
  • Good communication skills in spoken and written English.
  • Experience with SDLC best practices and modern testing approaches.
  • Collaborative and team oriented. Customer focused.
  • Ability to teach, coach, and evangelize squad members on testing strategy, automation mindset, Dev Ops practices, and quality best practices.
  • Drives high-level work generation by ensuring initiatives are well-defined, requirements are clear, and quality standards are met before execution.
Nice-to-have
  • Knowledge about authentication, authorization and role management mechanisms.
  • Worked with Cloud environments (Azure Dev Ops is a plus).
  • Experience in testing integrations with external systems and migrations.
  • AI exposure, state of the art.
  • Experience managing CI/CD pipelines and release processes to ensure high-quality deliveries.
  • Experience building microservice landscape for testing using Dev Ops-oriented test practices (containerized environments with integrated services, dataset management).
  • Experience collaborating with QA communities to define and promote quality standards across teams improving quality and drive impact beyond their own team.
  • Experience with agile development practices and Dev Ops, including Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Experience implementing and validating non-functional requirements such as performance, reliability, and security across services and tools.
  • iSTQB Certified Tester - Foundation Level certification or similar.
