Senior Build Engineer

Compensation: $120,000-$170,000 per year

The job:

As a Senior Build Engineer at Buildertrend, you will shape how our engineers build, test and ship the software that powers more than 1 million construction pros worldwide. Your work improves how teams build, test, and deliver code, creating clarity and momentum across the development lifecycle. You will streamline complexity, strengthen reliability, and make everyday engineering tasks feel simple and intuitive.

Success means engineers spend more time building solutions for contractors and homeowners and less time battling tools or pipelines.

What you will do:

* Improve build, test, and delivery flow so teams can ship quickly and reliably.

* Diagnose and resolve workflow, tooling, and pipeline blockers across teams.

* Own and evolve CI/CD systems, increasing automation and reducing manual steps.

* Standardize and simplify engineer workflows where it improves clarity and reliability.

* Shorten feedback loops by improving build and test visibility.

* Own and evolve developer experience, including local development and onboarding.

* Build automation that removes manual steps and reduces errors.

* Standardize and maintain build systems and delivery tooling.

* Leverage cutting-edge AI tools to drive engineering efficiency

* Measure and communicate impact using metrics such as build time, failure rates and deployment frequency.

* Partner with engineering leaders and platform teams to drive practical, scalable workflow improvements.

Who you are and what you need:

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.

* 6+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping customer-facing features, preferably in a .NET environment.

* Strong experience working in .NET-based applications and tooling.

* Proven ability to identify and reduce friction in the software development lifecycle, and proactively improve build performance, test reliability, automation, and developer experience.

* Comfort working directly in application codebases when diagnosing build or pipeline issues.

* Experience automating workflows using languages such as Python, Bash or Go.

* Experience working in cloud and containerized environments, including Docker and a major cloud provider.
