Forward Deployed Engineer

Overview

As a Forward Deployment Engineer, you’ll help drive the growth of Speechmatics by working directly with customers, partners, and developer communities to demonstrate, integrate, customise, and deploy our Voice AI, fast.

You’ll operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and adoption. Part product evangelist, part hands‑on builder, you’ll implement our Voice AI in demos, Proofs of Concept, pilots, and full‑scale production environments. You’ll also engage with the wider developer ecosystem, building examples, running workshops, supporting integrations, and helping developers unlock the full potential of our APIs.

This is a deeply hands‑on role. You’ll work side‑by‑side with end‑users, customer engineering teams, developer communities, and our internal engineering organisation to deliver measurable value in days or weeks, not months.

• Build rapid prototypes, Proofs of Concept, and pilots to validate customer and community use cases
• Design, develop, and deploy custom integrations of Speechmatics’ APIs in diverse environments
• Create high‑impact demos for customers, events, hackathons, and developer audiences
• Collaborate directly with customer engineering teams to optimise deployments for accuracy, scalability, and performance
• Act as a technical bridge between customers, developer communities, and product engineering — surfacing feedback and improving developer experience
• Develop technical assets (sample apps, starter kits, code snippets, workshops) that help developers build successfully with our APIs
• Support installation, operational best practices, and successful adoption across deployments

• Strong software engineering background with deep API integration experience
• Proficient in modern web technologies (Type Script, Svelte Kit, React); full‑stack capability preferred
• Comfortable building rapid prototypes and production‑grade integrations
• Clear, confident communicator, equally effective with engineers, customers, and developer audiences
• Passion for Voice AI, conversational interfaces, and developer experience
• Experience engaging technical communities (talks, workshops, open‑source, technical content)
• Comfortable with ambiguity and fast iteration
• Able to turn incomplete ideas into scalable, well‑designed solutions
• Motivated by impact, ownership, and building things that ship

Competitive salary plus OTE or bonus, with great additional benefits. $100,000 - $150,000 USD.
