The English Language Learning team has the mission of designing, building, and operating robust, secure, and observable software services that empower both customer-facing and internal experiences across Pearson’s digital ecosystem.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Technology Engineering organization. In this role, you will lead the design and development of scalable services, contribute to technical strategy, and elevate engineering practices across the team.

• Design & Implementation:
  Architect and implement scalable services, APIs, and data flows.
• Operational Excellence:
  Champion observability, SLOs, and incident-prevention.
• Technical Leadership:
  Lead design reviews and make pragmatic trade-off decisions.
• Collaboration & Delivery:
  Partner with cross-functional teams.
• Security & Compliance:
  Apply secure coding standards and remediate vulnerabilities.
• Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing:
  Provide guidance to junior engineers.

• Strong alignment with Pearson’s culture and values.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5–8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Proficiency in Node.js, Type Script, Python, and modern frontend frameworks.
• Experience with SQL/No
  
  SQL, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD.
• Strong architectural and delivery skills.
• Secure coding, secrets management, vulnerability remediation.
