Vice President, Back‑End Engineer II
Bank of New York Mellon seeks Vice President, Back‑End Engineer II in New York, NY, to consult with internal business groups to provide application software development services or technical support. Remote work may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Consult with internal business groups to provide application software development services or technical support in more complex situations.
- Gather requirements and prepare BRD/SRD.
- Understand the Software Development Life Cycle; conduct reviews of test plans and data.
- Coordinate the technical design, development, and documentation of cross‑functional, multi‑platform application systems.
- Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, and logical processes and interfaces with other systems.
- Ensure application performance levels are achieved by coordinating coding, testing, implementation, and documentation.
- Design and develop backend features and components; scale the backend architecture and codebase to support growth.
- Reduce technical debt, program well‑designed, testable, efficient code; develop tests and test‑automation suites.
- Develop flowcharts, layouts, and documentation; maintain software functionality.
- Actively participate in code reviews; integrate software components into a fully functional system.
- Apply security and privacy principles; execute full lifecycle software development.
- Develop software verification plans and QA procedures; troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
- Participate in the deployment process following all change controls; provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements.
- Recommend continuous improvement; leverage existing products and promote reuse; collaborate cross‑functionally.
- Compile documentation written by senior developers.
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or in a related IT occupation in the financial services industry.
- Utilize Java, Python, and Scala for data‑intensive applications using Apache Storm and cloud SDKs to interact with cloud services.
- Develop interactive web applications using Spring Boot, JavaScript, HTML, Angular, CSS, and Ajax.
- Build and deploy cloud‑native applications in Docker and Kubernetes for efficient orchestration and scaling.
- Utilize RESTful APIs and SOAP in Java to integrate with legacy systems or third‑party platforms.
- Handle data needs, processing, and storing unstructured data to support complex queries in SQL and No
SQL databases, including Mongo
DB and Snowflake. - Perform continuous integration/deployment practices using Jenkins, Git Lab CI/CD, and Git Hub Actions to automate deployment and management of cloud‑native applications.
The base salary/range for this position is expected to be $ - $ per year at the commencement of employment. Base salary will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the total compensation package, which may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short‑ and long‑term incentive packages, and company‑sponsored benefit programs.
