Telephony Engineer - REMOTE

In this role, you will play a crucial part in designing, implementing, and supporting innovative telephony solutions that enhance enterprise communication. With strong expertise in Vonage systems, you will help build scalable, reliable cloud-based voice and messaging platforms. Your work will ensure seamless integration with internal systems and third-party services, making a significant impact on communication efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.

• Design, develop, configure, and support scalable communication solutions using Vonage Business and Vonage Communications APIs
• Integrate voice, SMS, and messaging services into existing enterprise platforms
• Develop and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs to support communication workflows
• Troubleshoot integration issues and ensure secure, reliable telephony operations
• Provide L2/L3 support for telephony-related incidents and service requests
• Monitor system performance, conduct regular health checks, and manage upgrades and patches
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements and deliver communication solutions
• Maintain documentation for system configurations, troubleshooting processes, and best practices
• Ensure compliance with security, performance, and reliability standards
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers for issue resolution and enhancements

• 5+ years of experience as a Telephony Engineer or in a similar communications engineering role
• Strong hands‑on experience with Vonage telephony systems, including Vonage Communications APIs and contact center solutions
• Solid understanding of VoIP technologies, SIP, RTP, PBX systems, and call routing concepts
• Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java, C#, or Python
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous processing
• Experience working with cloud‑based telephony and unified communication platforms
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
