Watershed is an enterprise sustainability platform. Organizations including Airbnb, Carlyle Group, Fed Ex, Visa, and Dr. Martens rely on Watershed to manage climate and ESG data, generate audit-ready metrics for voluntary and regulatory reporting such as CSRD, and support meaningful decarbonization. We’re seeking a team member excited to take part in all aspects of shipping excellent products, including hands-on engineering, working directly with customers, developing deep climate domain knowledge, and helping set company direction. You’ll join as an early member of the team and help shape what comes next r background should demonstrate a history of building products that users love.

Watershed’s technical stack includes the web frontend our customers use, along with a backend of climate data, climate models, and integrations with financial systems. We develop new products with a customer-first approach, so you’ll spend significant time working in React, Type Script, CSS, Node.js, and related technologies. Prior expertise in our stack isn’t required; the ability to learn new technologies quickly is more important.

• Partner with Product, Design, and Customer teams to define a technical roadmap that balances speed to market for new features with long-term codebase stewardship
• Act as a strong customer to our platform teams, leveraging existing capabilities and sharing financial customer needs to inform platform roadmap decisions
• Build high-impact platform enhancements that deliver value to our customer segment
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to make Watershed a productive, innovative, and impactful place for engineers to do their best work

• 8+ years of engineering experience
• Experience building user-facing applications with attention to usability, performance, and scale
• A systems-thinking mindset, with the ability to understand the big picture, identify critical challenges, and help teams focus on what matters most
• Experience leading high-performing engineering teams
• This role is based in our San Francisco office.
• Candidates must be willing to work from an office 4 days per week (except for roles designated as remote).

Watershed has hub offices in San Francisco, New York, London, and Mexico City, and satellite offices in Sydney, Paris, and Berlin. Where offices exist, employees are expected to be in the office 4 days per week. Some roles are open to remote work and will be clearly identified on the jobs page and in the job description.

Next steps vary by role, but typically include a skills or experience interview (for example, a coding interview for engineers, a portfolio review for designers, or a deeper experience discussion for other roles), followed by a virtual or in-person interview panel.
