As our Lead QA Engineer, you'll establish and lead our QA strategy, working directly with our Head of Engineering and cross‑functional teams to ensure the quality and reliability of the Maximus platform. This is a key leadership position where you'll build and manage our QA team while implementing scalable testing processes. This is a player‑coach position where hands‑on IC work will also be required.

• Lead the development and execution of our QA strategy across our applications
• Build and manage a high‑performing QA team, establishing best practices and mentoring team members
• Design and implement automated testing frameworks that support our event‑sourced architecture
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams during sprint planning to ensure quality is built into our development process
• Establish quality metrics and reporting mechanisms to track and improve system reliability
• Ensure testing coverage for HIPAA compliance and healthcare‑specific requirements
• Create and maintain test plans for critical systems including prescription management, lab testing integrations, and payment processing
• Participate in sprint ceremonies and provide quality‑focused input during backlog refinement

• 5+ years of dedicated QA engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
• Strong experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
• Proven expertise leveraging AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor) to improve QA and automation efficiency
• Experience with Ruby/Rails and React testing frameworks
• Strong understanding of API testing
• Proven track record of building and scaling QA processes in fast‑growing organizations
• Experience with performance testing and monitoring tools
• Excellence in written communication and documentation
• Background in healthcare technology or HIPAA‑compliant systems preferred
• Background in agile methodologies and sprint‑based development
