The Position

Copilot is looking for a Head of Engineering to partner closely with our CTO and lead the day-to-day management of our entire Engineering team. This includes our iOS, Web, and Backend engineers across our New York City and Santiago, Chile offices. As we scale, we seek a strong engineering leader who can help us stay nimble, aligned, and focused on quality.

You will be instrumental in ensuring our engineering organization delivers a best-in-class product while maintaining velocity and culture.

This is a hybrid position based in New York City. You’ll be required to come into the office at least 2 times a week along with the rest of the team. Remote work is available for the rest of the week, with the office always open if you want to use it more often.

Your Responsibilities
  • Support and develop engineering managers and team leads across iOS, Web, and Backend. Set clear goals, ensure strong execution, and build a high-performing, collaborative team.
  • Help scale our engineering processes, including cycle planning, prioritization, hiring, and internal communication.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Operations teams to align on company goals and ensure efficient, transparent road mapping and delivery.
  • Work closely with our CTO and Staff Engineers to shape and refine our technical strategy, architecture, and platform investments.
  • Champion a strong engineering culture rooted in trust, inclusion, autonomy, and continual improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering, with around 4 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional and multi-location teams.
  • Background in consumer product development, preferably in high-scale mobile or fintech apps.
  • Deep understanding of software development best practices across frontend and backend.
  • Passion for building simple, elegant solutions to complex technical and human challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Based in New York City or able to commute to our NYC office at least twice a week.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment, ideally at the Series A/B/C stage.
  • Exposure to or familiarity with our tech stack:
    Node.js, Type Script, Firebase, Swift, React.
  • Experience with Generative AI.
  • Experience scaling engineering processes and teams.
  • Previous involvement in recruiting, hiring, and team design at a strategic level.
  • Understanding of Dev Ops, CI/CD, observability, and data-driven product iteration.
Compensation And Benefits
  • Annual Salary of $230k to $260k
