Software Engineer: and Systems

Gauntlet leads the field in quantitative research and optimization of DeFi economics. We manage market risk, optimize growth, and ensure economic safety for protocols facilitating most spot trading, borrowing, and lending activity across all of DeFi, protecting and optimizing the largest protocols and networks in the industry. We build institutional-grade vaults for decentralized finance, delivering risk-adjusted onchain yields for capital igned by the most vigilant, quantitative minds in crypto and informed by years of research.

As of November 2025, Gauntlet manages over $2B in vault TVL, and optimizes risk and incentives covering over $42 billion in customer TVL. We continually publish cutting-edge research that informs our risk models, alerts, and analysis, and is among the most cited institutions — including academic institutions — in terms of peer-reviewed papers addressing DeFi as a subject. We’re a Series B company with around 75 employees, operating remote-first with a home base in New York City.

Join a newly formed product pod focused building scalable data systems as well as our next‑generation app that allows users to deposit and withdraw into vaults directly. This role is part of a critical initiative to drive order from crypto data chaos, as well as build our core product interface. You'll be working on a high‑impact project tightly aligned with Gauntlet’s core strategy, helping build a robust, user‑facing experience at the heart of our business.

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of full‑stack features for Gauntlet’s decentralized application, ensuring high performance and scalability
• Partner closely with front-end engineers to deliver cohesive and well-integrated experiences
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing
• Engage in systems design and architecture discussions to build robust backend services supporting the application
• Participate actively in code reviews and design sessions, promoting best practices and high‑quality code standards
• Collaborate with product managers and researchers to translate requirements into effective technical solutions
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software issues to maintain system reliability and performance
• Gauntlet engineers are expected to own features end‑to‑end. While this is a full‑stack role, our interviews intentionally emphasize backend systems, APIs, and production decision‑making over frontend specialization. We value good boundaries, clear interfaces, and pragmatic judgment more than deep expertise in any single layer.

• 5+ years of professional experience in software development, with a focus on full‑stack engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Type Script for full‑stack development
• Proven ability to design and implement user‑centric applications, emphasizing seamless user experiences.
• Solid experience with backend systems and APIs, including systems design and architecture
• Familiarity with Python or the ability to be language agnostic
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with other engineers and mentor team members
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills with a focus on application development lifecycle
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a distributed team environment
