Lockheed Martin Space is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer Staff (Level 4) to join our Space Software Product Line (SSPL) organization and help lead an embedded software team responsible for deploying space and missile flight software to multiple programs and projects.
Responsibilities- Lead an embedded software team and serve as a software technical lead.
- Work with the software development team and project stakeholders to create, refine, and execute a roadmap of capabilities and software features.
- Deliver software programs, focusing initially on SDA programs, with potential to grow to other projects based on organizational demands.
- Oversee the deployment of space and missile flight software to hardware test environments and higher‑level assembly integration and test.
- Eight or more years of software development experience.
- Demonstrated technical leadership or product ownership for software projects.
- Familiarity with Agile software development and Scrum teams.
- Experience presenting to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
- Experience with Real‑Time Operating Systems (RTOS), such as Unix/Linux or VxWorks.
- Experience deploying embedded flight software to hardware test environments or higher‑level assembly integration and test.
- Strong technical reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Preference for candidates living within close proximity to a Lockheed Martin facility.
- Experience with Atlassian tools, including JIRA.
- Experience with Git, Git Lab, and CI/CD concepts.
- Experience with secure boot, Zero Trust Architecture, and government‑owned/contractor‑operated (GOCO) environments.
- Knowledge of RMF Cyber Controls and relevant government standards: CSNA 2.0, DoDI 8510.01, CNSSI 1200, CNSSP 12, CNSSP 15, CNSSP 1253, CNSSP 1254, NIST SP 800.
- TS/SCI clearance or DoD Secret clearance.
This position requires a government security clearance, and the applicant must be a U.S. citizen for consideration. Clearance level:
Top Secret.
- On‑site full‑time at a designated Lockheed Martin facility; remote work not allowed.
- Work schedule:
9‑80 with every other Friday off. - Lockheed Martin supports various alternate work schedules for additional flexibility.
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $113,900–$200,905. For states not referenced above, the salary range will reflect the final work location.
